Muwatta Imam Malik

كتاب القرآن

وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ أَنَّ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ، كَانَ يَقُومُ مِنْ جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ فَيَقُولُ نَامَتِ الْعُيُونُ وَغَارَتِ النُّجُومُ وَأَنْتَ الْحَىُّ الْقَيُّومُ ‏.‏

Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that Abu'd-Dardaused to rise in the middle of the night and say, "Eyes have slept, andstars have set, and You are the Living and Self Subsistent." Namat'l uyun wa ghariti'n-nujum wa anta'lhayyu-l-qayyum. Translation Not Available

حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الصُّنَابِحِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ تَطْلُعُ وَمَعَهَا قَرْنُ الشَّيْطَانِ فَإِذَا ارْتَفَعَتْ فَارَقَهَا ثُمَّ إِذَا اسْتَوَتْ قَارَنَهَا فَإِذَا زَالَتْ فَارَقَهَا فَإِذَا دَنَتْ لِلْغُرُوبِ قَارَنَهَا فَإِذَا غَرَبَتْ فَارَقَهَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنِ الصَّلاَةِ فِي تِلْكَ السَّاعَاتِ ‏.‏

Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam from Ata ibnYasar from Abdullah as-Sunabihi that the Messenger of Allah, may Allahbless him and grant him peace, said, "The sun rises and with it is ahorn of Shaytan and when the sun gets higher the horn leaves it. Thenwhen the sun reaches the meridian the horn joins it and when the sundeclines the horn leaves it, and when the sun has nearly set it joinsit again." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant himpeace, forbade prayer at these times. Translation Not Available

وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏"‏ إِذَا بَدَا حَاجِبُ الشَّمْسِ فَأَخِّرُوا الصَّلاَةَ حَتَّى تَبْرُزَ وَإِذَا غَابَ حَاجِبُ الشَّمْسِ فَأَخِّرُوا الصَّلاَةَ حَتَّى تَغِيبَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa that hisfather said that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and granthim peace, used to say, "Delay the prayer when the edge of the sunappears until it is completely in view, and delay the prayer when theedge of the sun is disappearing until it has completely disappeared." وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ الْعَلاَءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ فَقَامَ يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلاَتِهِ ذَكَرْنَا تَعْجِيلَ الصَّلاَةِ أَوْ ذَكَرَهَا فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏"‏ تِلْكَ صَلاَةُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ تِلْكَ صَلاَةُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ تِلْكَ صَلاَةُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ يَجْلِسُ أَحَدُهُمْ حَتَّى إِذَا اصْفَرَّتِ الشَّمْسُ وَكَانَتْ بَيْنَ قَرْنَىِ الشَّيْطَانِ - أَوْ عَلَى قَرْنِ الشَّيْطَانِ - قَامَ فَنَقَرَ أَرْبَعًا لاَ يَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ فِيهَا إِلاَّ قَلِيلاً ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Yahya related to me from Malik that al-Ala ibn Abd ar-Rahmansaid, "We visited Anas ibn Malik after dhuhr and he stood up andprayed asr. When he had finished his prayer, we mentioned doingprayers early in their time, or he mentioned it, and he said that hehad heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant himpeace, say, the prayer of the hypocrites, the prayer of thehypocrites, the prayer of the hypocrites is that one of them sitsuntil the sun becomes yellow and is between the horns of Shaytan, oron the horn of Shaytan, and then gets up and rattles off four rakas,hardly remembering Allah in them at all.' وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَهَى عَنِ الصَّلاَةِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ وَعَنِ الصَّلاَةِ بَعْدَ الصُّبْحِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ ‏.‏

Yahya related to me from Malik from Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Habbanfrom al Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allahbless him and grant him peace, forbade prayer after asr until the sunhad set, and prayer after subh until the sun had risen. Translation Not Available
