حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ يَأْتِينَا فَيَقُولُ لأَخٍ لِي وَكَانَ صَغِيرًا " يَا أَبَا عُمَيْرٍ " .

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي جَبِيرَةَ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، قَالَ فِينَا نَزَلَتْ مَعْشَرَ الأَنْصَارِ {وَلاَ تَنَابَزُوا بِالأَلْقَابِ) قَدِمَ عَلَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ وَالرَّجُلُ مِنَّا لَهُ الاِسْمَانِ وَالثَّلاَثَةُ فَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ رُبَّمَا دَعَاهُمْ بِبَعْضِ تِلْكَ الأَسْمَاءِ فَيُقَالُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ يَغْضَبُ مِنْ هَذَا . فَنَزَلَتْ {وَلاَ تَنَابَزُوا بِالأَلْقَابِ} .
Chapter: NicknamesIt was narrated that Abu Jabirah bin Dahhak said: "(Allah's saying) "Nor insult one another by nicknames(Surah Al Hujarat 49:11)" was revealed concerning us, the Ansar. When the Prophet(PBUH) came to us, a man among us would have two or three names, and the Prophet(PBUH) might call him by one of those names, only to be told: "O Messenger of Allah(PBUH), he does not like that name." حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ مَدَحَ رَجُلٌ رَجُلاً عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " وَيْحَكَ قَطَعْتَ عُنُقَ صَاحِبِكَ " . مِرَارًا ثُمَّ قَالَ " إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ مَادِحًا أَخَاهُ فَلْيَقُلْ أَحْسِبُهُ وَلاَ أُزَكِّي عَلَى اللَّهِ أَحَدًا " .
It was narrated from Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakrah that his father said: "A man praised another man in the presence of Messenger of Allah(PBUH).
